About

This collection assembles some of Leslie "Les" N. Wilk’s designs. He was the Resident Director of Texas Woman’s University’s Southwest Institute of Design in the department of Fashion and Textiles.  He began his career as the owner of a ladies’ specialty dress shop, Les Wilk Fashions, in San Antonio, Texas.  Wilk was best known for his formal wear, especially the gowns he designed for the contestants of the Miss Texas and Miss America Pageants, 1972-1987.  The Woman’s Collection at Texas Woman’s University houses over one hundred clothing items designed by Les Wilk, including the outfit worn by Texas Governor Ann Richards at her 1991 inauguration.
